"People listen to music not only with their ears, but also with their eyes" - every experienced producer working in the entertainment industry remembers this. At one time, Frank Farian and his groups brought this formula to perfection. Luxurious costumed shows of Boney M., ERUPTION or Gilla, seasoned with bright catchy melodies, have always evoked a warm response from the public.
Farian drew on the experience of holding such concerts from American colleagues. Perhaps no European pop project of the 1970s could match the scope and quality of the show's production with the creations of the German hitmaker N1.
During the performances of the same Boney M., the stage literally changed before our eyes due to the abundance of colorful outfits, exotic vocalists and expressive musicians. All this gave was rise to a completely unique atmosphere of a large festive carnival.
To create the famous 1979 TV show "Fantastic Boney M.", based on songs from the album "Oceans Of Fantasy", the producer attracted such bands as THE ORIGINAL TRINIDAD SHOW & STEEL BAND and THE BLACK BEAUTY CIRCUS. Both groups took part in the recording of the disc, which later became multi-platinum, and then they went on a big world tour with Boney M.
In addition to them, ERUPTION's star Precious Wilson worked on LP "Oceans Of Fantasy", performing several vocal parts.
During the production of the new Boney M.'s album, the producer decided to release a single of the already mentioned exotic metal percussion ensemble (THE ORIGINAL TRINIDAD STEEL BAND) along the way. Soon, their work was published on the HANSA International label, containing two compositions: "Ride Your Pony" with vocals by Don Mellow, as well as an instrumental version of the SANTA ESMERALDA hit "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", colorfully arranged by Farian. The single reached N1 on the German charts.
The tradition of Boney M.'s Caribbean carnival shows has been carried into the 21st century in the form of Frank Farian's disco musical DADDY COOL, some episodes of which evoke nostalgic memories of the glory days of the triumph of the best project of the producer.
Today we got the opportunity to show you the remastered video of THE ORIGINAL TRINIDAD SHOW & STEEL BAND on the ZDF TV show "Fantastic Boney M." In addition, here is the solo number of the circus performer Antonio Gusto from Brazil, whom Farian hired in order to give the action a specific Latin American flavor.
